OM Shanti Om

The Baadshah of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan has once again done justice to the 2 very different characters he plays, credit goes to the director, the script writer who have done well in carving the 2 characters who though are connected, yet seem to be completely different.

Farah Khan has mingled the hit formulae of rebirth, metaphysical world with the present-day technology, and the product that has come out of the Farah Khan imagination factory is - if not glorious - spell binding.

The computer technology we saw in the Hollywood's Tom Hanks starrer Forrest Gump, ten years back has been used in the song "Kaise naino se nain milaaun sajna... " Choreography is romantic not mushy, simple, and nostalgic.

Deepika Padukone has done well for her first performance, and the director has used her USPs - her Eyes and her Smile - very efficiently. Her eyes make you feel for her, they make you feel sad, they fill you with awe, and you also feel for the character.

Arjun Rampal - in a negative role, has fit the role to a T. He has been underestimated so far as his talent is concerned, however, Farah Khan has used his talent and what we see is a performance you would hate, not because it is pathetic performance, but because of the things it does to the characters in the film!!!!

Director Farah Khan has once again dished out her favourites. Though, unlike Main Hoo Na, this time the Menu of Favourites includes all time Hit Jokes, stories - so famous about our very own Bollywood- good as well as bad. It's a journey through the most happening times, the decade that saw the rise of super stars.
How many times have you seen people waiting till the credits are over... Well this is the film where you would wait to see even the credits... till the projector stops!!!!
The comedy, the sarcasm on our Bollywood industry is a bold attempt and Farah Khan has suceeded in it. She has mingled the story very well with the backdrop of Bollywood. In short!!!! Do watch it.. not a single moment where you would not like it.

Manorama- Six Feet Under

Abhay Deol has yet again proved his worth in this industry which has most of its stars set in roles with below the belt comedies. Manorama- 6 Feet Under --- at first go the title seems to be a bit weird and does not give anything away about the kind of movie that it was to be. It is only after watching it - would you probably appreciate it.
Set in a small town of Rajasthan, being directed by debutante Navdeep Singh, who is well known for his award winning ads, shot this film in 52 days flat which is rare. This film is truly first-of-its-kind dark comedy about an amateur detective in a small town who gets caught in a web of lies, trickery, deceit and murder. The entire plot is set in a sleepy town of Rajasthan, where the only mode of entertainment is perhaps peeping into other's lives.
Performances by Raima Sen, Gul Panag, Sarika, Kulbhushan Kharbanda & Vinay Pathak make the movie worth a watch.
Special mention to Vinay Pathak who plays the role of a "corrupt" cop which is not unfamiliar!!! But as expected of him and this character, audience would love the humour and cynicism. He is the mirror for Abhay Deol to see the real picture, someone, who tries to make Abhay's character see the reality - which is obviously revolting. So much that you wish he had a longer role.
Gul panag is perfect to the T-- a wife who is gnawing but at the same time, loves her husband and her family more than anything.
Raima Sen needs a good lesson in Hindi. She looked beautiful, and stunning in the Aquarium scene.
The other characters though not so famous, or should I say lesser known faces also add to the flavour of Rajasthan with the goons competing with each other as to decide who is better off than each other. It's good to see unknown faces acting and mouthing such real-to-life lines.
Shot sleekly, with hardy any special effects, the Director of Photography - Arvind Kannabiran, makes Rajasthan look so beautiful..that you want to be there. This means that this film brings together stalwarts of the advertising world to test their talent in the world of cinema.
The film keeps you engrossed to quite an extent but after the interval it becomes slightly dheela. Loses its grip but picks up soon.
This film is definitely not for those who are used to the slapstick comedies that Bollywood is dishing out by tons, who are used to seeing sci-fi, action thrillers - but for those who yearn to see something different-- Go and watch it. Really nice film...has some flaws..but then who said Navdeep had to be a Spielberg!
