Chak De India On B4Bollywood

For anyone in love with Sports, a MUST SEE.

For those who are not, you can watch this movie for sheer performance, the camera work, the script, the witty dialogues, the simplicity.

The story revolves around King Khan who plays a muslim protagonist, whose only aim is to see India and her national game at its pinnacle. For that he takes the near impossible job of training Indian Women’s Hockey Team.

The icing on the cake is the performance by the other 11 players, who come from nowhere, and steal your heart, with their simple, natural performance.

The Director should be appreciated for making out such brilliance from so many unknown faces.
For once the story is the game and the not just the big names.

Gandhi My Father on B4Bollywood

I Have to be honest that when I watched this movie I compared it to the play “Mahatma vs Gandhi” that I had seen quite a few years ago, Though the characters still remained the same- however- this time the performers had changed.

While watching this movie, one would relate to the umpteen number of movies that are based on Gandhi, his life. This movie was different because it tried to portray Gandhi who also happened to be a husband, a father.

Akshaye Khanna, playing the character of Harilal - son who is tormented by the fact that he cannot live up to the expectation of being the son of a leader - who is an institution, someone who is “Bapu” to millions of Indians, and not just his father. An ordinary man born to an extraordinary human being. All that can be said about his performance is that it is by far his best.

Shefali Shah- who potrays Kasturba Gandhi, plays a character who is the wife of a major public figure, as well as the mother to a son who is not a devoted follower of Gandhi. Tied between the duties of a wife as well the fondness of a mother for her son, she plays the character with equal ease, and stirs the heart.

Darshan Zariwala- who plays the mammoth character of Mahatma Gandhi, hasn’t had too many plump roles, however, makes a very good effort.

Having said all this, the only thing that comes to my mind is that though it was a good movie, shot well, but somewhere the intensity in the characters were missing. The body was well made but the soul was missing. Which is why probably you would feel it’s a good film, but not a heart stirring or overwhelming performance.
